Architectural Designer

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
Experience:
10 – 15 years of professional practice and design exposure in Alberta / Canada preferred.
Languages:
Speak English, Read English, Write English
Type of Architectural Experience:
Residential construction, Industrial construction, Commercial construction, Institutional construction, Renovation, Interior and space planning.
Specific Skills:

·        10 – 15 years of professional practice and design exposure.

·        Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.

·        AAA registration is an asset, but not required.

·        A portfolio of completed project designs.

·        Excellent technical skills, with CAD, Revit, and various Design programs.

·        Strong creative design and time management skills.

·        Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills:
  • Meeting with clients to discuss the design requirements.
  • Gathering the necessary municipal zoning, dimensional information, and other routine calculations for design layouts.
  • Providing clients with suitable design recommendations based on factors such as budget, building and site constraints, sound planning principles and design trends.
  • Using CAD, Revit and Design software as well as manual drawing techniques to produce architectural solutions for management and client approval.
  • Reworking and modifying designs based on comments and reviews from management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Providing management with estimates on cost, time, machinery, construction, and other specifications.
  • Interacting with other Architects and Designers to exchange ideas and provide support.
  • Ensuring all vital information and documentation is recorded and maintained.
  • Conducting research and attending workshops/conferences to remain up-to-date with the latest design practices and evolving influences     on Architecture.
  • Ensuring that all layouts are compliant with industry codes and legal standards.
  • Demonstrated success with various types of Architectural projects, from pre-design through design development, construction documents,     tendering, contract administration and post construction project     completion.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management processes involving scope, budget, and schedule.
  • High level of creativity, innovative thinking and problem solving skills a necessity.
  • Proven ability using and managing the current industry versions of Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office efficiently and     effectively.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of architectural project production cycles.
  • Full competency of provincial Building Codes is essential.
  • Up to date understanding of construction detailing with a variety of current building systems, methods and materials.
  • Strong understanding of various municipal zoning by-law requirements.
  • Effective verbal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, achievement and goal oriented.
