The renovation of the lobby in a 15-floor tower in downtown Edmonton aimed to refresh the space while preserving the original granite wall cladding and flooring.

The building owner prioritized a contemporary update, focusing on innovative ceiling features and lighting design to enhance the lobby's aesthetic. New lighting was strategically implemented to highlight the granite, preventing it from overpowering the area. Existing cove and gypsum board ceilings were removed and replaced with backlit metal ceiling panels that sparkle like jewels, complemented by suspended architectural lighting that adds grandeur and guides visitors into the main lobby. Flanking the existing elevator lobbies are new wood panels that lend purpose to the space. In keeping with the overall design, the new security desk features a quartz top and transaction surface, paired with plastic laminate fora warmer touch.
