Planworks was approached by a residential property developer / REIT from eastern Canadato provide preliminary site planning and conceptual design of a multi-building residential development (RA7 zoning) located on a greenfield suburban site in the northeast Edmonton subdivision of McConachie.

Thisparticular suburban site is set within a newly expanding, largely residential-commercial area.  The defined project scope was simple: to maximize the density of allowable Units of 1, 2 and 3 Bedroom type mix within 2-3 multi-family buildings surrounding a landscaped courtyard of greenspace, with tenant parking embedded within.  Architecturally the client was seeking a modern yet classical composition of neo-historic appearance, recalling the grand manors of the past.

The final solution embodied an appropriate symmetrical composition, elegant sweeping hip and gabled roofline and a rich palette of appropriate finish materials.
